Detective Justin May

Detective Justin May, is assigned to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division, and has proven to be a vital asset to combatting heroin addiction throughout Hillsborough County. His deep desire to protect citizens in the county has led to the successful coordination of resources and criminal investigations that have resulted in the arrest of heroin and fentanyl dealers.  

Detective May’s abilities with technology have distinguished him among his peers within the division. Due to his abilities, Detective May was asked to help the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Selective Operations Section with a human trafficking investigation spanning several jurisdictions and states. 

Between January 27th, 2020 and June 8th, 2020, a group of six individual traffickers were identified. The human trafficking investigation lead to the successful identification of seven human trafficking victims during the investigation. Throughout the investigation, two individuals were documented as members of a criminal gang organization, and four additional individuals were identified as associates. All six individuals were charged with human trafficking violations and RICO violations due to the investigation of the Selective Operations Section and Detective May.  

Detective May’s efforts have shown he deserves recognition for his passion, initiative, and tireless work ethic protecting the community while serving at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.  Detective May enjoys spending his free time fishing and spending time with his wife Joy, and their two children, Haydn and Hannah.
