Plant City Fire Rescue – Firefighter of the Year

Unlike in years past, each and every 2014 nomination was for the same individual. The nomination forms were truly inspirational citing such attributes as the individual’s hard work, dedication, and most importantly his true love for Plant CiTampa Police Department Fire Rescue. In addition, the nominations cited the individual’s Honor Guard activities and his overall positive attitude which serve to inspire pride throughout the entire department. I am referring to Driver Engineer Eric Janes.

Eric Janes began his career in 1993 and has worked his way up through the ranks to the position of Driver Engineer and Acting Captain. Throughout his career Eric has proven himself to be reliable, trustworthy, and responsible – quite literally everything any Fire Chief would ever hope for in any member of their department.

Driver Engineer Eric Janes graduated from Pasco High School and entered the US Marines. Following five years of service with the Marines, Eric Janes entered the Florida State Fire College and received his state fire certification. He started his career with Plant CiTampa Police Department Fire Rescue on December 29, 1993. Driver Engineer Janes has been married to Amy S. Janes for 23 years. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Mandy 19 and Kaydee 14.
