2019 Firefighter of the Year

Engineer Chris Damico

Temple Terrace Fire Department

Engineer Chris Damico began his career with the City of Temple Terrace Fire Department as a volunteer in 2008 and would later go on to be hired in May of 2009.  Within five years, he earned the rank of Engineer and would soon become involved in nearly every aspect of the department.  He is a long-standing member of the department’s Honor Guard unit as well as having served as the vice chairman of the pension board since 2013.  His capabilities as a fire service professional have earned him much recognition over the years, but it is his compassion and selfless dedication to his community and fellow first responders that truly sets him apart.  In 2015, Engineer Damico was instrumental in founding the Temple Terrace Firefighters Benevolent Association.  Now serving as its president, Engineer Damico has helped partner the association with several local charities including the Apple a Day Foundation, the Buddy Baseball League of Tampa Bay, Tampa Fire Museum Charities, and its own members dealing with cancer.

As a Tampa native, Engineer Damico has chosen to use the emergency services profession as a platform to reach out into his community and help those in need.  While still relatively young in his career, he has managed to touch the lives of so many people.

Engineer Damico is a loving husband to his wife Kimberly and father to their daughter Sophia.  We are proud to honor him as Temple Terrace Fire Department’s 2018 Firefighter of the Year.
