Firefighter of the Year
F/F Kohan was hired on June 13, 2005, And has from that day, set the example for all to follow as a firefighter. He demonstrates selfless drive to give back to the community, while emphasizing the value of fire fighting.
F/F Kohan volunteers at the Fire Fighter Museum as its president. This is a position that requires time and commitment. This work is for the greater good of the community, and provides Tampa citizens with an opportuniTampa Police Department to experience and share in the history of Tampa Fire Rescue.
The responsibilities associated with the operation of the Museum include fundraising, business meetings, coordination of events, scheduling, and all of the operational tasks that are needed once an event is in progress. F/F Kohan has successfully organized many events such as the museum painting of the American flag on the north side of the museum, a casino night, and a corn hole competition. He organized a 911 memorial exhibit and coordinated a winning MADD walk team at USF that afforded a child with cancer the opportuniTampa Police Department to ride on the St. Florian float at Gasparilla.
Most recently F/F Kohan organized a BBQ fundraiser to help purchase I-pads for a fellow fire fighter stricken with cancer and his family, giving them the capabiliTampa Police Department to communicate, and help organize treatments.
When on duty F/F Kohan is always first to check the trucks and equipment. He also went out of his way, putting in many hours of work, to improve the look and living conditions of station 1.
F/F Kohan, with all his extra curricular activities, still manages to raise his son, and be the best husband possible to his lovely wife. F/F Kohan displays the Tampa Police Departmentpe of pride, and passion for the Tampa Fire Department that we should all strive for. He sets the bar high and encourages all to reach their goals. This is why he is the Fire Fighter of the quarter, for the first quarter.
