Reserve Deputy Robert L. “Bob” Grant

Robert L. “Bob” Grant grew up in the Mohawk Valley in Upstate NY. He enlisted in the USAF and was stationed at Macdill, where he met Elna. They were married in 1966. He returned to Tampa and was in the first FDLE/CJST Auxiliary Academy in Florida in 1972. He was promoted to Sergeant and Lieutenant. He corporately was transferred to Atlanta where he started one of the first Reserve Programs in Georgia with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and was appointed as a Major. He returned to Florida and went to another Academy in 1992 and became a Reserve II Deputy functioning in Aviation, Patrol and Training until he went full time with the Sheriff’s Office in 1999. Bob served in Patrol, Traffic Homicide, Training, Street Crimes, and Court Operations and was appointed a Corporal in 2009. He retired in 2013 and became a Reserve I Deputy and now oversees all Reserve I and Reserve II academies, in-service, and training. Bob served in the Air Force, Georgia and Florida Army National Guard and retired as an E-8 Master Sergeant in 1998. He is a graduate of the Business University of Tampa (1970, AAS Computer Programming), the University of Tampa (1974 , Business and Criminology), Troy State University (2002, Masters in Public Administration) and the United States Army Sergeants Academy, 1993).
