RII Corporal Ed Kessler is married to his beautiful wife Jamie and they have two children, Alex and Sophia. Also part of their family are two rescue pit bulls, and a rescue cat. He enjoys coaching his children’s soccer teams, trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and enjoys remodeling his home in his down time.

RII Corporal Kessler has been with the reserve program since January 2012. In the past year he has volunteered more than 500 hours in support of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and has been instrumental in advancing the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Reserve II program.

• Implementing the first phase of the Reserve Unit’s social media presence through Facebook and YouTube. This assisted Recruiting efforts by reaching larger pools of candidates not previously being tapped into.
• With the assistance of Reserve II Captain Kutz, redesigned recruitment materials including an updated business card designed to attract new potential Reserve Candidates.
• Assisted in recruitment and screening events, and streamlining the RII recruitment process.
• With the assistance of Reserve II Lt. Lewis and many others, the Reserve Organization now self manages the entire process of recruiting and screening.
• Serves as the Background Investigator for Reserve and Swat Medic applicants.
• Serves as a Reserve II Field Training Officer.
• With the assistance of District II’s Lt. Donald Morris and Corporal Michael Sullivan, established a formal process for Reserve Deputies to check out patrol cars in District II. This process decreased the amount of time needed to check out a vehicle and laptop by more than 75%, so this time could be better spent serving our community.
• Through the use of Intelligence Led Policing and proactive patrol, conducted and/or assisted in more the 45 arrest in the District I and District II areas.

Ed is a Contact Center Supervisor at Progressive Insurance, where he has been employed for the past 16 years. In addition to volunteering at HSCO, he enjoys volunteering at Progressive-sponsored events for Veterans, such as Hiring our Heroes and Keys to Progress. This year at the Keys to Progress event, Ed was part of a team that helped raise over $4000 and three recycled rides for local Vets in need.
