Sergeant Mark Aristizabal

Sergeant Mark Aristizabal began his Law Enforcement career with the University of South Florida Police Department in April of 2008. He has accepted various assignments throughout his eleven-year career serving as Accreditation Officer, Bicycle Officer, Tactical Response Team Member, CPR Instructor, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor and RAD Instructor. Sergeant Aristizabal has had many achievements within the past year. He was vital in developing the CORE (Community Outreach and Enforcement Section) into an active section that includes new and enhanced programming for our community, including additional programming and visibility in the residential areas. He was also vital in creating new processes and efficiencies for law enforcement staffing of special events.
Sergeant Aristizabal displays a high level of flexibility. This flexibility provides the framework for success in providing services to our community through the CORE officers, USF Health officers as well as special events. Sergeant Aristizabal often puts in extended hours, changes schedules, or cancels time off in order to see something through. He is always accessible and eager to assist in any capacity. Sergeant Aristizabal has a strong work ethic and is a team player. He fosters a team dynamic in CORE and is cognizant of his employee’s personal and professional goals. Sgt. Aristizabal completes all of his responsibilities in furtherance of student success. Sgt. Aristizabal continues to be a valuable member of the agency and constantly provides a positive influence to the men and women who serve at the USF Police Department. Sgt. Aristizabal was nominated and selected by his peers as the 2018 Officer of the Year for the USF Police Department. Despite all current responsibilities, Sergeant Aristizabal manages to finds time to spend with his wife of 7 years and two young children.
